Two businessmen murdered

KORAPUT: After a long silence for the last many days in Koraput district, people in Bandhugaon block in Koraput district were horrified on Sunday night with the murder of two businessmen of Kattulpeta in the block. According to sources, Hari Saukar and Buddi Prasad Rao were asked to come out of their houses in the midnight by about 50 armed Maoists and were killed near the village.
The Maoists, in their banner that was left at the site of the murder alleged that these two businessmen were supporting the police in suppressing the fight for land by the tribals in the region and were also cultivating lemon grass despite of repeated warnings by the Maoists. They have further warned that similar action would be initiated against such businessmen in Sorupali and Alamanda areas of the block if they do not bring reforms in their ways of action.
The Maoists have also demanded release of some prisoners of Tamil Nadu from the district jail at Koraput .
