Focus on NREGS

KORAPUT: Attention would be given for successful implementation of NREGS in Koraput district. There were some bottlenecks in implementing the scheme, said Rajesh Pravakar Patil, district Collector. While the district administration was taking steps to remove obstacles by bringing reforms in the administrative mechanism, there was need for support from society, he added.
A special campaign to create awareness on the scheme would be launched in the district soon where specially decorated vehicles would be moving in the villages carrying the messages of NREGS to the grassroots.
The panchayat offices in the district would be kept open regularly from now on to make the administration more accessible to the common man, he said.
Special literature in the form of leaflets and booklets with songs, slogans and stories based on the promises of NREGS were planned. School children and committed youth in the region could prove beneficial in spreading the message among family members by reading the stories and messages.
Meetings of the script writers , theatre personalities and social workers from different parts of the district under the chairmanship of the district collector was held at Koraput .
