Koraput airstrip to be upgraded

KORAPUT: Jeypore airstrip in Koraput district would be upgraded to a regular airport with the introduction of a small aircraft between Jeypore and the State capital within the next six months, Jayaram Pangi, MP, said while speaking as chief guest atthe inauguration of the new campus of Siddarth Institute of Engineering & Technology at Ektaguda near Koraput on Thursday.
Mr. Pangi , who had held discussions with the airstrip authorities and sub-divisional administration at Jeypore in the morning said that special measures would be taken to upgrade the facilities in the airstrip campus including increasing the length and breadth of the strip for landing .
While appreciating the move by the Chief Minister in highlighting the need for upgradation of the airstrips in the State including that in Jeypore, Mr Pangi said that introduction of air service in Koraput region could bring greater changes including that in education and health with personalities from different sectors reaching the place with ease .
Among others Sanjeeb Kumar Panda , DIG of Police, South West Range , Raghuram Padal ,MLA,Koraput and Gupta Prasad Das, Chairman of the college spoke . In his address Mr.Panda while highlighting quality education in technical institutions, advised the students to abstain from unnecessary conflicts blocking their professional growth.
