Train services suspended

KORAPUT: All the trains to and from Koraput on the Koraput –Rayagda rail route were suspended for the day as hundreds of people blocked the rail line at Naktiguda near Tikiri in Rayagada district on Saturday. The agitators were demanding compensation from the railways against their land which they had allegedly lost for laying the railway line between Koraput to Rayagada in 1999.
Apart from demands for providing extra un-reserved compartments in Hirakud express, they demanded for a road to their village under PMGSY .
While the talks to pacify the situation had failed to bring any positive results, passengers faced difficulties following the disruption in rail traffic between Koraput and Rayagada.
