Naxals threaten teachers working in remote areas of Malkangiri
BERHAMPUR: Maoists damaged a mobile phone communication tower and cut down trees to block some major roads in Malkangiri district on Friday night.
This time their target was a private company owned mobile communication tower at MV 74 village.
According to sources some armed Maoists accompanied by their supporters attacked this communication tower.
They damaged the control room and generator room of the communication tower by a blast.
The naxals did not injure any one during the attack, police sources said.
Naxals also showed up their ire against the use of paramilitary forces against them through road blockades in Chitrakonda and Balimela areas.
The Maoists and their supporters cut down trees at several places to block the Chitrakonda-Balimela road and the Chitrakonda-Sileru road.
For the first time through banners and posters naxals threatened the teachers working in schools in remote areas of Malkangiri district. They intimidated the teachers to face their wrath if the paramilitary forces involved in anti-naxal operations camped in their schools.
It may be noted that Maoists have damaged several newly constructed school buildings in remote areas of the districts due to the fear that they would be used as camps by security forces.
Through their posters the Maoists also opposed the establishment of Cobra battalion in Koraput.
To create a support base in remote areas of the district, they also expressed their support to the demand of Konda Reddy community to be included in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list of Orissa.
