KORAPUT: The head post office at Koraput has been modernised under ‘Project Arrow’. While inaugurating the upgraded post office on Monday, Santosh Kumar Kamalia, Postmaster General, Berhampur region said that the current developmental process was creating linkage between the traditional postal system with the modern techniques. Mobile phones, computers and other modern gazettes have outplayed the conventional mode of communication. While the use of such communication systems could not be negated for their respective importance in everyone’s life, the postal system could be made better by using them, he added.
The inauguration on Monday would bring a new hope in the region for improving the existing postal system by providing faster mailing services through e-post, e-money orders and many other such tools. The introduction of better monitoring mechanism and timely support from the local administration, payments to the workers under the schemes like NREGA could be made faster, he added.
Among others P. Koteswar Patro, Sr. Superintendent of post offices, Koraput division and K. C. Panigrahy, Director, Tribal Museum attended the function.
