Another protest rally being planned at Semiliguda


Alleged attacks by Narayanpatna CMAS activists have led to exodus of non-tribalsKZSC formed to thwart violent ‘expansionist attitude’ of CMAS

BERHAMPUR: Protests and oppositions are on the rise in Koraput district against the violent activities of Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) of Narayanpatna block of the district.
Another protest rally against the Narayanpatna CMAS is being planned at Semiliguda on Wednesday. It may be noted that on Friday 20 non-tribal families of Upper Kanti village of Semiliguda block had to desert their village due to alleged attacks by the Narayanpatna-based tribals organization.
A meeting was held at Semiliguda to plan up a protest rally against the Narayanpatna CMAS activists.
The Semiliguda rally is to be attended by people from Semiliguda, Lamtaput and Nandapur blocks of Koraput district.
They would decide to get united to stop violent CMAS activists extend their belligerent acts against non-tribals outside Narayanpatna block. It may be noted that alleged violent attacks of Narayanpatna CMAS activists has led to large scale exodus of non-tribals from the Narayanpatna block.
These CMAS activists alleged that non-tribals had taken over tribal land.
The Narayanpatna CMAS activists have already faced opposition of their counterparts in adjoining Bandhugaon block.
On Sunday around 4,000 people gathered up at Kakirigumma of Laxmipur block to take part in a protest rally against the activities Naryanpatna CMAS. They vowed not let the violent CMAS activists extend their activities to Laxmipur block.
It may be noted that on Friday around 35,000 people had gathered up at Laxmipur as a show of strength against the violent activities of CMAS of Narayanpatna.
An organization named ‘Koraput Zilla Shanti Committee (KZSC) has been formed to thwart violent expansionist attitude of Narayanpatna CMAS. It was alleged that the Koraput district Collector was giving undue importance to this group and its leaders like Nachika Linga and Gananath Patra.
