The celebrations committee honours Kumayu Hial, a tribal musician, with Parab Pratibha Samman
KORAPUT: Minister of State for Science & Technology Ramesh Majhi presented Parab Pratibha Samman to Kailash Patra, research scientist from Jeypore, for his contribution in the field of research on Malaria on the inaugural day of Parab, State-level tribal festival at Koraput.
Mr. Patra has also receiveda special honour in the form of a financial support from Gates Foundation for carrying out further research.
The district Parab Celebrations Committee also honoured Kumayu Hial, a tribal musician from Tunpar in Laxmipur block, with Parab Pratibha Samman for having displayed his talent in playing Mahuri in different forums across the nation . Upasana Bhadra and Sanjukta Pangi were presented Parab Yuva Pratibha Samman.
While Upasana of Koraput has excelled in acting in television serials and feature films, Sanjukta , a tribal girl from Karanjaguda, a remote village in Semiliguda block of the district, has represented the youth in J-8 summit held in Rome this year.
A. Shantiraj Khosla, singer and music director, Ashok Kumar Mishra, renowned radio programme producer on tribal way of life, Pramila Kirsani, national weightlifter, Gobardhan Panda , researcher on tribal studies and Bira Kishore Nayak, dance teacher, were also honoured for their exemplary contribution in preserving the culture and tradition of the region. Among others Jayaram Pangi, MP Koraput and Pradeep Majhi, MP Nowrangpur, attended as guests of honour.
