Drive for land rights to tribals

KORAPUT: Nearly 4200 cases involving 5,800 acres of land have been identified in the special drive by verifying records of tahsils and tallied with the declaration being made by under Section 3(B) of Regulation 2/56 in the district.
These will be reverted to tribals by the competent authority, Rajesh Pravakar Patil, Sub-Collector, said in a press note on Wednesday. Registered sale deeds at Sub-Registrar’s office at Koraput, Pottangi and Machkund along with District Sub-Registrar, Jeypore, were also being verified and nearly 217 cases were investigated whereby non tribals were likely to be in possession of tribal land and had not filed declaration as per Section 3(B)(1), he added. Acording to Mr. Patil, teams were formed and the settlement work was under progress in 29 villages in Narayanpatna tahsil, eight in Laxmipur, 14 in Semiliguda, 12 in Nandapur, 10 in Koraput and four and five in Dasmantpur and Pottangi tahsils.
After vacation of the stay, distribution of pattas would be made to 5,000 beneficiaries
