Workshop held

KORAPUT: The sex ratio in Koraput, Nowrangpur, Rayagada and Malkangiri districts was better compared to the state average with respect to girls, said Gadadhar Parida, district Collector at a workshop on Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act 1994 (PC & PNDT Act) held in the CDMO’s office on Friday. He said while there were 970 women for 1,000 men in the district, Nowrangpur district remains on the top among the four tribal dominated districts of Koraput region with 1,002 women for 1,000 men.
The decreasing child sex ratio and the “ missing girls” was the major concern of the world today, which leaves women the most vulnerable group, Rabi Narayan Das , CDMO said. Among others Dr. Bharadwaj Mishra and Dr. Kamalini Mahapatra from the district headquarters hospital spoke.
