Plight of a Tribal Woman Suffering From Disease

Chief Minister's Relief Fund which was established with a mission to support the poor for minimizing their suffering from diseases , seems to have failed to reach the common man for its complexity and alleged lack of interest among the service providers to extend the facility to the people .At least this was true with Mahima Goudo , a poor woman from Ghodadwar village in Koraput block who has been moving from pillars to post for the last 13 years to get relieved from the serious infection in her chest while spitting out the sputum added with drops of blood .
She was admitted into the district head quarter hospital a long time back , hospital sources said . But it was not conformed whether she was suffering from TB or some other chest disease , the sources added. While she was given some anti TB drug in the beginning , she had not responded to the drug and had discontinued taking them as it was more painful , Mahima said .
Since then she was taking some medicines by purchasing from the open market . But as things got worse she was asked to leave her in-law's house. She continued to suffer from the disease and without any support , not even from her husband , she was forced to stay with her parents for all these years, she said . But with her worsening health condition and poor financial condition of her parents , she wished to be of a lesser burden on her ageing parents . There was no support from the health service providers to fight back her illness , she alleged .
At last she came to know about the CM's relief fund and had approached the local MLA with all the details of her illness . Taraprasad Bahinipati , MLA , Koraput had sent his recommendation to the CDMO's office . But here too she had failed to get the support from the social security measures of the society . She broke down with tears today in front of the emergency officer after learning that her request was turned down by the authorities as her case was not fit for getting the support even from the CM's relief fund .
