Delicate surgery done
Correspondent
KORAPUT: “It is the wonder of the millennium” exclaimed Sapan Kumar Dinda, surgery specialist in the district headquarters hospital at Malkangiri. Sumala Mandal, a 45-year-old woman from M.V.42 was operated for a suspected tumour for the pain that she was suffering for the last many years. However to everyone’s surprise, the suspected tumour in an extended part in the uterus turned out to be a mummified foetus, Dr. Dinda added.
According to Sumala, she had got pregnant in 1988 and following the absence of any growth in the womb or any complications from the foetus, she had the feeling that it might not be a case of pregnancy.
She started complaining of pain in her uterus region a few days back and was admitted to the hospital.
